LADY COMETS 2011 BANQUET
On November 10, team members, their families, and friends gathered at Glen Oaks Country Club to celebrate the successes of the outstanding 2011 season. Speeches were given, a "pictures from the season" video was shown, and individual players were honored.
The following girls received varsity letters:
Fourth Varsity Letter: Emily Sullivan, Emma Black, Lexi Thiel
Third Varsity Letter: Alex Chapman, Maggie Scanlon, Katrina Helcoski, Sarah Sopinski, Paige Eisenlohr, Melanie Coles
Second Varsity Letter: Abbey Burke, Izzy Clauss, Colleen Smith
First Varsity Letter: Lauren Hoyt, Cailey Ware, Quinn Gibbons, Anna Laughter, Michaelina Holmes, Perrine Wasser
In addition, twelve other players were awarded participation certificates
Several players were recognized as all-league selections:
First Team Lackawanna League All-Stars: Alex Chapman, Emma Black, Emily Sullivan, Maggie Scanlon, Izzy Clauss
Second Team Lackawanna League All-Star: Sarah Sopinski
Alex Chapman led the team in both total points with 46 and in goals scored with 22; she now stands among the all-time AHHS goal-scoring leaders with 64 career goals.
Maggie Scanlon led the team in assists with 9. She and Emma Black finished their careers tied for first among current players with 20 career assists each.
The following players received individual awards:
Rookie of the Year: Lauren Hoyt
Hustle Award: Cailey Ware
Dagger Award (for consistent, determined play): Sarah Sopinski
Coach's Award (for field leadership and all-around quality play): Emily Sullivan
School Board Award (most valued player as voted by teammates): Emma Black
The following parents were recognized by FAHS-G President Kelli Eisenlohr for their special contributions this year: Donna and Joe Holmes, Mike and Lisa Sullivan, Susan Trussler, Paul Helcoski, Susan Burke (vice president FAHS-G), Beth Clauss (treasurer FAHS-G), and all of those who worked the concession stand and offered support and assistance in other ways.
