Nicolle Thompson:

Attended Washington High School from 2004-2008. My older sister got me involved in volleyball my freshman year, never knew what volleyball was before then.  I fell in love with the sport and continued to play after she graduated.  I lettered my sophomore year through my senior year.

Attended Brigham Young University – Idaho where I participated on the Brigham Young University – Idaho Competitive Volleyball League in 2009.  While at  BYU-Idaho, I coached for the BYU-Idaho Competitive Men’s Basketball League for 2 seasons. My first season (2009-2010), I coached the Varsity and JV teams. The Varsity team went undefeated the entire season, destroying teams in scoring until the semi-finals where we ended our journey. The JV team went undefeated until the Championship game where we lost by 4 points. My second season (2010-2011) I coached a JV team, getting most of my players from the previous season back and where this time we went undefeated and took the Championship Game, making it a perfect season.

From 2009 to 2012 I assisted with several teams, High School and Club, Girls and Boys, with outstanding finishes in the local area as well as PNQ, Corvallis, and Regionals.  Some teams even claiming National bids.

This fall will found me coaching the C-Team  at Washington High School.  I, along with another coach, took on a group of girls from freshmen to juniors, some who have never played sports. It was quite the challenge. Everything we did had to be broken down to the simplest form possible. The girls ended up becoming quite the team when they wanted to play their game. Winning half of the games in the season and some sets even when we lost, these girls grew tremendously.

To put it simply I love coaching and have been involved in many different kinds of sports.  Coaching is a passion that I intend to continue to do the rest of my life.

Darrell Minica :

I believe in focusing on the basics. Especially with the younger players. By learning and mastering the basics, it instills self confidence in the players and makes the game more fun. One of my favorite quotes is, "You don't have to win, just don't lose!" It means that it's okay for the other team to win as long as you know that you did you very best and gave 100%. It's not okay to lose because you didn't! You only lose if you don't try! This is the attitude that I try to instill in my players.

Coaching Experience:

  • 2 years of league play while serving in the U.S. Navy.
  • 10 years coaching experience.
  • Coached every age group from U12 to U18. My passion is coaching the younger age groups.
  • Coach 4th - 6th grade girls in Bethel Rec's volleyball program.
  • Love the game, love to coach
