The U18 boys United, coached by Javier Vargas, won the Silicon Valley Cup in
Morgan Hill over Labor Day weekend. Trailing 4-1 at the half, the team
staged a thrilling comeback, scoring four second-half goals to defeat the
Hayward Aztecas 5-4.
It was the first time the team has won the tournament, having
finished second and third in previous years.
This summer, United also played in the Pateadores Cup at UC Irvine, and
finished third in the Sacramento Suntan Classic.
Many of the players on the team also participate in the program College Is
Real, designed to boost their academic performance and chances of attending
college.
