AEK Baltimore (representing Greece) played well in the fifth annual Baltimore Mayor's Cup, finishing third in a group that included powerhouse clubs the Baltimore Kickers (Germany) of the top division of the Maryland Major Soccer League and Guinea FC of the Maryland International Soccer League.

AEK started the day strong with a dominating performance against Indonesia.  The final result was 4-0.  AEK next faced the Kickers.  Although the Kickers took an early lead, AEK battled back and equalized in the second half.  With a 1-1 draw against what was thought to be the best team in the group, AEK went into othe match against Trinidad with cautious optimisim, but an early series of defensive errors saw AEK one goal down against an inferior opponent.  Again, AEK battled back to equalize but then failed to convert multiple chances.  The game ended 1-1.

The day ended with AEK facing Guinea, who by this time had established themselves as the best team in the group.  AEK went down 4-0.

Still, overall, it was an excellent performance by AEK Baltimore FC.  With only eight players remaining from the original squad of 2007, and more than eight players having just joined over the Spring and Summer, the team gelled quickly, only conceded two goals in the first three games and emerged a serious contender for the upcoming MMSL season.
