SOFTBALL FRIENDS ARE FOREVER"
by:  Judy Lee Schreiber  (the words in blue)

"Softball is not just a sport where you play a few games and then you go home".

1-1 in pool play, 5-0 in bracket play, 12 hours on Saturday, 6 more on Sunday
"There is more that comes out of it than winning or losing".
Time spent discussing strategy and tactics with our parents Saturday afternoon and evening
The banter of team mates
The challenge of doing your best!
"With softball comes some of the best friends that you will ever encounter".
New Friends, Kelsey and Ashley, our Fusion team bonding tighter together as a TEAM!!!

"You play on teams together, you laugh together you cry together. You meet new friends through other teams".
96 Fusion - Category 5 coming together as ONE TEAM, our pick up players who contributed along the way!

Crying - Oh yeah it happens, that 3rd strike in the championship game, a hard line drive up the middle, back pain, knee pain, home run joy, coaches heads about to explode!

Our friends the Crusaders who did not deserve what they got, but their friends called Fusion for setting the record straight on who is the better TEAM!!
"A real softball friend is one who is there for you on the field and off the field".
Camp BBQ's, sliding down the hill, watching that team we play next.  Cruzin on the cooler scooter, just a few of the time spent moments between games
Ashley for joining us late when we were in a pinch

"A real softball friend is there to help you with your bumps and bruises".
Kayla J. and her back, Kesley H. and her knee, Chloe and her ankle, Coach Pat and his feelings???

"A real softball friend is there to pick you up after a rough game or congratulate you after a great one".
Parents, coaches, brothers and sisters, especially team mates!  From pool play to championship play the range of emotions from game to game.  Our Fusion girls and the way they bounce back
"A real softball friend keeps in touch with you after the season has ended and for many years to come".
Ladies,
The first one is the most special, for some there will be more to come for others this could be the only one.  What each of you accomplished this weekend will be with you for a life time.  You will tells stories and you will embellish about how you played from year to year and for some the memories will fade as others take their place but one thing will always be true.....
.....that on the weekend of April 19th and 20th 2008 the 12U Fusion team was THE BEST SOFTBALL TEAM on that given weekend in Garland Texas.
Congratulations on a great accomplishment!!!  More hard work means more Championships to follow!

"I just wanted to let you all know that you are my real softball friends".
So I would like to convey our Thanks from Michael, Larry and I
to:  Micha, Chloe, Kelsey D. Katie, Darby, Kayla, Kelly, Nicole, Kellie, Melissa our Fusion Foundation
and
to:  Kelsey H. and Ashley G. for contributing to the best weekend of softball in our young Fusion Team History
and
to: Shannon for keeping the book and some sanity for our dugout.
and
to:  our parents who invest the money and time into providing the best for their young ladies.
We are lucky to be around such a great group of people and look forward to more SUCCESS in the future!
Coach Patrick "Edgar Allen Poe" Johnson

RockYou FXText

I am very proud of all of our athletes this weekend as they did very well in their first tournament of the spring. We are still learning the plays, calls and signals which will come in time.

Thank you to the girls that give us some help this weekend;
Karen, you did a great job in our first bracket game being called in to start at the last minute and throwing a lot of good pitches.
Haley, It's a good thing spring break is here. You were behind the plate all day and I'm sure your legs feel like spegatti so going to school may have been tough.

A GREAT BIG THANK YOU!!!
Parents and Players,

Thank you to all the parents and players that worked our first team fund raiser this weekend.

We received several compliments from coaches and parents regarding how clean the dugouts and fields were. The girls even were complimented on how sweet they were!

The team worked a total of 36 hours!! Give yourselves a big hand!!

FYI this was the first baseball tournament that a Girls Fastpitch Softball team was able to work!!

RockYou FXText - Get Your Own

In the Burkburnett tournament our girls were up playing softball for 23 hours. We arrived at the park at 6:00 AM on Saturday morning to begin warming up for a 7:00 game and did not stop until our last game ended at 4:45 (Sunday morning).

As the games wore on throughout the day and deep into the night our girls learned more and continuiously improved in position play, batting and moving to the ball. It was a great expereinece for the coaches to watch as these young ladies matured as a team; understanding what each other was doing, working together and most of all having a great time playing. At 2:00 Sunday morning we were even playing in the rain with bats flying around the fields just above our players scooping bugs out of the air.

As we were leaving the parking lot, a player made the comment, "you woke me up at 4:55 yesterday morning; it's 4:57 now... WE PLAYED ALL DAY!

What a great memory for our young athletes.

The coaches are pleased with our girls and we will be willing to do another 'round the clock tournament again sometime (after we recover from this one).
