The 95 Texas Elite traveled to Montgomery, Alabama, for their first USA/ASA National Championship Tournament.  The team opened with the Georgia State Champion 95 Atlanta Glory in pool play, after 5 innings of scoreless play, the GA Glory put a run on the board and eventually beat the Elite 2-0.  In the second pool game, the 95 Texas Elite matched up with the California Dirt Dogs, after a 5 run bottom of the first, the Elite cruised to a 7-4 victory.

Bracket play opened with the Corona Angels-Smith, the California State Champs and eventual undefeated 2008 USA/ASA 12U A National Champions!!  The Angels are an awesome club and outpaced the Elite 8-0, dropping us to the elimination bracket.

In the elimination bracket, the team faced the Birmingham Bandits, after a tough battle that come down to the last out and tieing run at the plate, the Elite moved forward in the bracket with a 6-4 victory.  On Friday morning, the Elite faced the Georgia Thunder, a top team in Georgia with speed and excellent left side game.  After holding the Thunder off in the first two innings with intense scoring threats, the Elite shut the Thunder out and claimed a 2-0 victory.

The Elite's final game in Alabama came against the Minors Gold - CA.  The Minors had some hot bats and flawless defense to claim a 9-1 vicory to move on to the next round.

The 95 Texas Elite played some very good teams and exerienced being part of the best 70 12UA teams in the country.  The Elite's 2-2 bracket record (3-3 overall) put them 25th in the 70 team field and developed even more hunger to improve and get back to the Championship in the future with a desire to claim more victories in the brackets.

After a long road in the Spring and early Summer, the Texas Elite claimed their ticket to the 12U A USA/ASA National Championships in Montgomery, Alabama.  The team had to face tough competition from all over the state to earn their berth through the Texas ASA championship process which will help prepare them for the variety of fantastic teams they will see in Alabama.   Way to go ladies!!

5th Annual Bash for Cash

The 95 Texas Elite finished second in the 5th Annual Tuttle Magic Bash for Cash.  The team showed up ready to play in the shadows of the University of Oklahoma Campus.  They started the seeding process with an 8-0 victory over the Oklahoma Twisters.  In the second pool game, the girls claimed a first round bye by overcoming some defensive problems against a solid hitting younger team Finish 96 4-3.  The 95 Texas Elite then faced the Oklahoma Twisters again in the first bracket game, after a slow start the team never looked back with a 11-3 victory to move into Sunday play.  Sunday started with tilt against the Oklahoma Groove, the game was a battle against two talented teams and the 95 Texas Elite prevailed with a 2-1 ITB win.  Sunday afternoon, the 95 Texas Elite faced a very talented Oklahoma Force 96 team, but was able to stifle their hitting claiming a 2-0 victory and moving to the Championship game.  After expecting a home field advantage for being the final team in the winners bracket for the Championship, Oklahoma Groove won the toss.  After going down 2-0, the team rallied with consistent fundamental fastpitch and carried a 3-2 lead into the final innining with three outs needed.  The Oklahoma Groove proved up to the test and pushed accross two runs with some clutch hitting claiming a 4-3 victory.  The team played well all weekend although they did not finish they way they wanted to.  The Groove is a solid ballclub and we look forward to competing with them in the future!!

The 95 Texas Elite won the ASA/USFA 14U Open Luck of the Irish tournament the weekend of March 15 - 16, 2008.  Very solid weekend with three straight one run victories to claim the championship.
