SYRACUSE STARS 92 BANTAM MAJOR AAA

welcome.gif
Welcome to the Syracuse Stars 92AAA Bantam Major website for 2006-2007.

The Syracuse Stars organization is NY's premier organization for player development. The Stars organization now has teams at the AAA level from Mite Minor 99's. The Stars organization also boasts 4 Junior teams under their umbrella where we hope our players can acheive their dreams through hard work and dedication. They include the Jr. A Stars in the Eastern Jr. Hockey League, the Jr. B Stars in the Empire Junior "B" Hockey League, the Jr. C Stars of the Continental Hockey Association and the Oswego Admirals of the Ontario Provincial Junior Hockey League. No other organization in the Northeast can provide this to their players.

What it takes to be a 1992 Syracuse Star:
This season we are looking for players who want to be here. Players that will bring a dedication and a work ethic that is unmatched by their peers. Our players are expected to be some of the best players in their age group throughout North America. We have developed a tradition of excellence that I intend for this seasons team to keep.

The players who are chosen to play for this team this season will be expected to carry on the tradition of hard work, dedication and committment to be the best they can be. I will do every thing I can to keep this team at the elite level in our age group. However the true responsibility to be a team that reaches it's goals will fall on the players who have the priviledge to wear a Syracuse Stars 1992 AAA jersey.

We want our players to take pride in the knowledge that wearing a 92AAA Stars team jersey means something special. Above all we want to develop our players skills and maximize their potential while still making it fun to come to the rink. Success will be measured in many different ways, the number of wins being only one of the barometers of success.

Syracuse Stars hockey is for those players who wish to compete with and play with the best. This season will be are toughest challenge to date. ARE YOU READY FOR IT?

Congratulions To All On A Great Weekend of Hockey!!

Like most of you I took a day to chill from the stress of the week. I will try to wrap everything up over the next few days.

I did want to tell our team how proud I am of them one more time. They left it all on the ice on Saturday and you can't ask for more then that. What a great win over the Hornet's in the quarterfinals, 4-3 in OT. Only to be followed up by the disappointment of the loss to LA later that evening. The boys gave it all they had but a PP goal in the 2nd and a late tip in on a great play by LA ended our season. I want to congratulate LA in beating us. They were the better team that night. Also a huge congratulations to the Mid Fairfield Blues for winning the Championship. They played a great game in the finals vs LA to win it 5-3 with an empty netter. They seemed to just build on the momentum of beating New Jersey in the last game of the round robins just to get in as the 4 seed. What a great accomplishment for them. As for LA they are still a great team. 3 Silver Medals at Tier 1 and the Tier II gold medal last year. That is a great run. As for us I think we can be very proud of the fact that only 2 teams brought home medals in the two 92 birth year National Championships at PeeWee's in Fairbanks and Bantam's in Buffalo. They are the LA hockey Club and the Syracuse Stars. That in itself is a great accomplishment by a great group of young men.

I don't think the tourney could have been any more competitive. No team went home without a loss and every game from the quarters on wasn't decided until the last 2 minutes of the game, including 2 OT games and 2 last minute games. A great accomplishment by all the teams there.

Congratulations and thank you to Bob Schell and all the volunteers in Amherst for putting on a terrific National Championship weekend. They really did a fantastic job in hosting the event. All of you deserve a pat on the back and a standing ovation for making a very difficult task go off without a hitch.

IT HAS BEEN A GREAT RUN....

but like all great runs they come to an end. It was a difficult decision but I will not be coaching the Syracuse Stars 92AAA next season. I have decided to move to Juniors next season where I will be coaching the Syracuse Stars Jr. B team. I tried very hard to develop the consensus necessary to have a full season midget team here in Syracuse next season but it was just not to be. There were just too many hurdles to overcome and to many compromises to be made. The Jr. option made the most sense to me and my family and I wish everyone the best of luck as they continue on whatever hockey path they choose.

I am truly looking forward to working with Coach Kirnan and the Stars Jr. teams. For those of you who are interested the Jr. team tryouts will be April 5th to 7th at the Baldwinsville Lysander Arena. The tryout schedule can be found at http://www.syracusestars.net/ or by clicking on the logo below.

THANKS TO CARMINE'S FAMILY RESTAURANT FROM THE STARS COACHES

I just want to give a shout out to Mauro and everyone at Carmine's Family Restarant at 671 Maiden Lane in Rochester. Mauro is a great supporter of youth hockey and he always make us feel welcome when we stop in to see him. Coach Prince and I wanted to thank him for the meal last week while I was in Rochester. If anyone is looking for a great place to eat that gives you too much great food at great prices then Carmine's is the place to go. Best of luck this season to Nick and Anthony and thanks again Mauro. We wish you all the best from the 92 Stars and look forward to coming back again soon. For you folks in Rochester or who may be traveling in to play their teams you just can't beat Carmine's as a great family restaurant with great food, great prices and great service.

Quote of the Day

They know what I expect. I don’t have to be on them every moment. I don’t say they have to win every day, but let them not perform to their maximum and then they’re going to hear about it. Joe Torre, New York Yankees

If you treat an individual as he is, he will remain as he is. But if you treat him as if he were what he ought to be and could be, he will become what he ought to be and could be. Goethe

WHAT SEPARATES THE “BEST” FROM THE REST IS THAT THE “BEST” KEEP GETTING BETTER.

You may have heard it said that if you do not continue to move forward then you will be moving backwards. This is very simply explained by the fact that there are other people working hard to get better and if you are doing enough just to get by then these others will pass you by. Don’t settle for average. Work hard to reach your ultimate potential in all areas of your life. Always strive to become your best and the rest will take care of itself.

My coach treated me the way I could be, not the way I was and that made all the difference.

"I won't accept anything less than the best a player's capable of doing, and he has the right to expect the best that I can do for him and the team."   Lou Holtz (Remember this always. Signed, Your Coaches)

To live only for some future goal is shallow. It's the sides of the mountain that sustain life, not the top." Robert M. Pirsig
