In Michigan State Cup competition, the team has finished twice as a Semi-finalist and three times as a Finalist. Through hard work and commitment, they hope to take the crown this year in the June 2007 State Finals. The U-17 Wolves have also continued their success playing in both the USYSA Region II National League and the Super Y League. Their opponents include the best competitive teams from Illinois, Wisconsin, Ohio, Indiana, Missouri, Kentucky and Michigan. The team is coached by Douglas Landefeld. Final Countdown
The U-16 Wolves pulled off a stunning OT victory to win the Disney Soccer Showcase in Orlando, Florida - December 27-30, 2005. The Wolves took on their biggest challenge in game one with a 1 0 win over the 2004 defending champions, the Charlotte NC Soccer Club. On day two, they triumphed over the Richmond (VA) Kickers, 3 2. In the final round robin segment, the Wolves pulled out a 1 0 victory over FC Texas. Day Four brought heavy fog and game delays, but the Wolves beat their Semi-Finalist opponents, FSA Soccer (CT) in a 1- 0 defensive dual. In the finals match against Solar 90 (TX), regulation play ended with a 1 1 draw. The teams battled through the first 10 minute OT period, ending once again in a tie. During the second OT period, Solar 90 managed to score, but with one minute remaining, on a perfect corner kick, the Wolves headed the ball in to tie the score and seconds later end the OT period. A perfect 5 shot Shoot Out resulted in the Wolves claiming the Championship trophy. DISNEY SOCCER SHOWCASE OR BUST The U-16 Wolves have been selected to participate in the Disney Soccer Showcase. Disney's Soccer Showcase presented by adidas is the premier soccer event to get our team noticed by over 500 attending college coaches. The fields are world-class, the competition is intense, and some of the best youth teams from across the U.S. will be participating. One factor yet to be determined, of course, is which team will earn the title of Champion. The Boys' competition will start on December 27th and finish December 30th. THREE PLAYERS CHOSEN TO 2006 SUPER Y ODP DIVISIONAL TEAM The USL Super Y-League announced today the release of the 2005 Season Olympic Development Program (ODP) Divisional Select Teams. "The selected players represent the top U.S. based players during the USL Super Y-League 2005 Season, and the top American citizen players within the Canadian clubs." Daniel Zimmer and Colin Rolfe were selected to the Great Lakes team and Michael Robinson was chosen as an alternate. The next step for these Divisional ODP Teams are the National ODP Camps in January 2006, where they will be placed in an intense training and competitive environment for identification to US National Team Programs. Various members of the US National Team Coaching Staff will be present, working ODP Staff Coaches to identify players The Tryout Schedule for the 2007 season has been posted. Over the course of the season, these players were evaluated by the Super Y-League's National Scouting Staff and recommended to Divisional ODP teams. The technical staff of each club was also consulted regarding the recommendations for final selection of 16 players and six alternates for each Divisional ODP team. The top players in the Super Y-League named to the ODP Divisional teams will go through a series of matches and tests at the National ODP Camp, which will be scoured by the US Soccer National Coaching Staff. The National ODP Camp will also allow select college and university coaches to attend the event to evaluate players for the collegiate level.
The Michigan Wolves were accepted into the Germantown, TN College Showcase Invitational, December 4 - 5, 2004. The tournament results for the U-15 Premier division were as follows: Michigan Wolves vs. Dallas Inter Blue 0 - 0 Michigan Wolves vs. Indy Burn Eagles 2 - 2 Michigan Wolves vs. JYSA United (KY) 2 - 0 Congratulations on their 1 - 0 - 2 tournament season opener!
The final preliminary game saw the Wolves effectively take down the Pacesetter team from Sylvania Ohio in a very physical 2 - 0 triumph. The Championship Game once again put the Wolves up against the host Thunder Soccer Club. They emerged victorious in a 1 - 0 win. SPRING NATIONAL LEAGUE COMPLETED The Wolves have completed their 2004 National League season with a 3 - 2 - 2 record against some of the best Region II competition.
