2012 : A Great Year
2012 Wrapping Up! As the 2012 season begins to close, and some of our divisions enter post season tournaments, be on the lookout for our 2012 Coach Evaluation Survey email. This is your chance to help us maintain our wonderful League by tellin gus what worked and what did not.
Still Looking for Volunteers! Even as the season is about to start, there is still plenty to do. And it always seems to be the same handfull of volunteers that we rely on to bring the great game of baseball to our kids. Even if you do not play the game, there are still plenty of opportunities to help: Team Parent, ScoreKeeping, Field Maintenance, Assistant Coaching. Talk to your Team's Manager and find out what he needs to make the season a success. It will not take very much of your time, and it will make your Player proud to see his parents participate.
4SRLL Forms Strategic Partnership with Frozen Ropes The San Diego Frozen Ropes franchise and the 4S Ranch Little League are announcing a strategic partnership which will allow 4SRLL Managers and Coaches to get free training and on-field practice support, team tunnel time at reduced rates, and 4SRLL players to get discounts on tunnel time, classes and individual instruction. This announcement solidifies and expands the informal relationship 4SRLL has had with this top flight baseball instructional facility located directly in our community. 4SRLL Managers and Coaches will get details on these resources at the Manager's Meeting in January.
* Tournament seeding is tentative pending final regular season standings
4SRLL-Frozen Ropes Gamer Award
T-Ball - March 21
Jazair Tallman - Diamondbacks
Jazair is a great kid who is easily coached and puts forth full effort on every play. Last game, he played pitcher one inning and ended up getting every ball hit to him - some very hard. Despite taking many of the balls off of his body, he kept a smile on his face and kept going after the next ones.
Nominees:
Manoa Sanft - Yankees
Christopher Porter - Cardinals
AAA - April 22
Wesley Petrick - Giants
I nominate Wesley Petrick--he rides his bike to every practice and every optional practice he has been there. He desperately wants to succeed and lead as a baseball player. He has become a very good hitter and vastly improved his play on defense. I think it would mean a lot to him if he were to win this.
Nominees:
Austin Manor - Phillies
Ryan Hsu - Mets
Juniors - April 28
Francesco Conte - Dodgers
Cesco is a young man who just started playing baseball last year. He is constantly working and improving his game. I saw him walking home from school on game day, wearing his jersey. He is a great teammate and I'm so glad to have him on my team.
Majors - May 6
Davin Olsen - Yankees
Continues to makes strides in all areas of his game. He has chronic pain issues but has never once complained or asked to be taken out. He has worked hard to become our 6 or 7 hitter and could not be more polite of a young man.
Nominees:
Cole Hagopian - Cardinals
Garrett Ostrander - Red Sox
Kevin Chen - Angels
T-Ball - May 13
Ethan Slavin - Dodgers
He is a great listener, tries hard on every play, never missed a game or practice and is the true GAMER!
I will teach all children to play fair and do their best.
I will positively support all managers, coaches and players.
I will respect the decisions of the umpires.
I will praise a good effort despite the outcome of the game.
Parent Code of Conduct
Preamble: The essential elements of character-building and ethics in sports are embodied in the concept of sportsmanship and six core principles: trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and good citizenship. The highest potential of sports is achieved when competition reflects these "six pillars of character."
I therefore agree:
I will not force my child to participate in sports.
I will remember that children participate to have fun and that the game is for youth, not adults.
I will inform the coach of any physical disability or ailment that may affect the safety of my child or the safety of others.
I will learn the rules of the game and the policies of the league.
I (and my guests) will be a positive role model for my child and encourage sportsmanship by showing respect and courtesy, and by demonstrating positive support for all players, coaches, officials and spectators at every game, practice or other sporting event.
I (and my guests) will not engage in any kind of unsportsmanlike conduct with any official, coach, player, or parent such as booing and taunting; refusing to shake hands; or using profane language or gestures.
I will not encourage any behaviors or practices that would endanger the health and wellbeing of the athletes.
I will teach my child to play by the rules and to resolve conflicts without resorting to hostility or violence.
I will demand that my child treat other players, coaches, officials and spectators with respect regardless of race, creed, color, sex or ability.
I will teach my child that doing one's best is more important than winning, so that my child will never feel defeated by the outcome of a game or his/her performance.
I will praise my child for competing fairly and trying hard, and make my child feel like a winner every time.
I will never ridicule or yell at my child or other participant for making a mistake or losing a competition.
I will emphasize skill development and practices and how they benefit my child over winning. I will also deemphasize games and competition in the lower age groups.
I will promote the emotional and physical well-being of the athletes ahead of any personal desire I may have for my child to win.
I will respect the officials and their authority during games and will never question, discuss, or confront coaches at the game field, and will take time to speak with coaches at an agreed upon time and place.
I will demand a sports environment for my child that is free from drugs, tobacco, and alcohol and I will refrain from their use at all sports events.
I will refrain from coaching my child or other players during games and practices, unless I am one of the official coaches of the team.

The County of San Diego Department of Parks and Recreation wants to remind you that anyone, under the age of 18, who rides on bicycles, scooters, skateboards, or inline skates at any community park, is required to wear a helmet.
Also, due to safety concerns, there will be no skateboarding in the areas around the Snack Bar and the Bleachers. Please heed the posted signs.
