SIJHSAA Class L Region 8 Champions  (22-1)

Jr NEC Conference Champs  (21-1) ((5-0) in the Conference)

The Lady Cubs  have a record of (56-4)  6th-8th  grade.

 The Lady Cubs are off to a great start this season (10-1) after Saturdays (11/10/07)  win over Paris Mayo 35-31. This was only Paris Mayo's 2nd loss.

After traveling to Salem (11/13/07) the Olney Lady Cubs came home with a win and a record of (11-1). The new shooting jerseys arrived just in time for the Salem game.  Rob at Ink It (392-2890) screen printed them for us. As usual great prices & quick turnaround, Thanks!!!!  

Jasper Co came to play in the ERMS Gym (11/16/07) and the Lady Cubs came out with another win for a record of (12-1)

After a few days off to rest & heal up the Lady Cubs traveled to Centralia (11/20/07) for another win (13-1). Centralia was Christina Bailey's debut with the 8th grade team.

With some time off for Thanksgiving, the Lady Cubs took on Carmi at the ERMS gym (11/27/07). The lady Cubs made this the 14th win of the season (14-1).

The Lady cubs handed Mt Carmel a loss on  Monday 12/3/07 at the ERMS gym. The win puts the Lady Cub's record at (15-1)This was the 1st of two remaining home games for the season. 

On Friday 12/7/07 the Lady Cubs out scored Flora in a fast paced game at Flora. The Lady Cub record is now (16-1) (3-0 in the JR NEC Conference) and are averaging 51.1 points a game.

Tuesday 12/11/07 The Lady Cubs played the lady Colts at Fairfield and came away with another victory. The Lady Cubs are now (17-1) (4-0 in the Jr NEC Conference) and are averaging 51.8 points a game.

The December schedule finished with an away game against North Knox on 12/18/07. The Lady Cubs came home with another win, for a record of (18-1).  **On a side note congratulations to the 7th graders in the overtime win against North Knox. Towards the end of the game momentum was going the wrong way.  Coach  Stafford stepped up and conversed with a Ref, after a slight delay in the action the girls never looked back. Good Job Coach!!!!**

After Christmas break The Lady Cubs hosted Mt Vernon on 1/3/08 for the last Home Game of the year. Elizebeth Walker & Whitney Harrison played for the 1st time with the 8th grade squad. The lady Cubs handled Mt Vernon and are now (19-1)

On 1/8/08 the Lady Cubs traveled to Mt Carmel for the last regular season and conference game.  After a slow start the Lady Cubs pulled away & clinched the Jr NEC Conference Championship & scored the 20th win of the season. (20-1) (5-0 in the Jr NEC Conference)

Regionals started 1/11/08 at Carmi. The Lady Cubs are in Class L Region 8. The 4 teams in Region 8 are, Olney, Mt Carmel, Carmi & Fairfield. Olney is seeded #1 &  played Carmi and came away with the 21st win of the season. Fairfield is seeded #2 & played Mt Carmel.

On Jan 14th  The Olney Lady Cubs were victorious over Mt Carmel to win the SIJHSAA Region 8 Championship. The Lady Cub record is now an impressive (22-1)

The Lady Cubs traveled to Rend Lake Sat Jan 19th to play Red Bud at 10:45 am for the opening round of the Class L SIJHSAA State Tournament & came away with a win.  The Lady Cub record is now (23-1)

On Tuesday 1/22 the semi-finals at Rend Lake found the Lady Cubs playing Salem for the 2nd time this year.  The lady Cubs were again victorious.   The season record is now (24-1) 

On Saturday 1/26 the Big day arrived, the Lady Cubs traveled to Rend Lake one more time to play O'Fallon for the Championship game and the last game of their Jr High career. They had to extend their Jr High career an extra 3 min but came away with the State Class L Championship. As usual the Lady Cubs  played with intensity with or without the lead until the buzzer. This win was the 25th of the year. (25-1) The Lady Cubs had a large fan section & those who could not attend listened to the game commentary of Mark Weiler & Mike Shipman on WVLN. Thanks go to WVLN, Mark Weiler, Dave Berry & Mike Shipman for broadcasting all three Lady Cubs state games from Rend Lake. Upon arriving home the Olney Police Dept  escorted the team bus to the Middle School.  The Middle School was opened and the team congratulated by a crowd of awaiting fans. Later that evening Coach Darleta Helm of the OCC Lady Blue Knights gave the girls a pass to watch the Lady Knights game & at half time OCC A.D. Dennis Conley congratulated  the girls, introduced them and announced their record.

On Monday 1/28 the Lady Cubs were recognized during the Lady Tiger Game aginst Paris  at Ron Herrin gym.
