Hey Coach Nellen,

Every so often you meet someone in this journey that enriches not only your life, but your entire family also. Coach Mary Chrnelich-Nellen is one of those special people. I know Coach Mary has been such a positive influence with many kids that love the game of basketball. If you doubt what kind of impact she has had in the Milwaukee area all you have to do is see what the Pius XI program has achieved the last few seasons. And that is just one program where Coach Mary has made her positive impact felt. She is never one to pat herself on the back or look for any kind of credit. She does what she does because she truly loves kids and being a teacher of the game. This morning I received a text from Coach Mary advising she had a couple of her Milwaukee youth teams playing at the Janesville Craig High School. I headed over to The Den and took several shots of her girls in action.
Boy did this bring back wonderful memories when we coached against each other during the youth years. The battles we had and the talent on the court was amazing. State tournament? Coach Mary hosted the real state tournament at Pius High School where teams like Pius, Milton, Janesville, Luxemburg-Casco, Verona, Playground Warriors AAU, Middleton, Green Bay Notre Dame battled for the ONE championship.
Over the years Coach Mary and I have kept in touch on a regular basis. She runs her 1 on 1 Teaching Hoops business and it's keeping her hoppin'. I don't know if those young ballers on the court really know how fortunate they are to have Coach Mary influence them not only with the game but also with all those valuable life lessons you learn from basketball. She has her priorities straight up and these kids will forever thank her for all she will do for them someday.
Mary, it was great to see you in the coaching box today. Your passion is admirable. So much positive energy. Even in defeat you and your kids are winners! Keep shootin' out those positive vibes!
You are the best girlfriend!

The Wolves lone loss of the week came against no. 12 Iowa Wesleyan College, where Raeder collected nine points and five rebounds. Raeder rebounded the next day as she scored 20 points and collected five rebounds in a 22 point victory over Rochester College.

Hi Girls,
I promised to find information on juggling for you, and as luck would have it one of our new 1on1 girls has a brother who is a pro juggler. Go to www.youtube.com and type in:
Bob and Trish - Trick Shot of the Month (April 2011)
Bob does a great job of breaking down the skill of juggling. It's a great way to improve your hand eye coordination, and it's fun ! Thanks Bob.

Hi Mary,
I hope this email finds you well; it has been ages I feel since the summer!!!! I wanted to give you a huge thank you from Christina and myself for all the training and skill development you provided her over the years. You taught her the building blocks of BB; shooting, passing, dribbling; to have fun; to do your best; and to work hard. It definitely paid off; as she made the JV team. THANK YOU and THANK You for your incredible teaching, instruction, training, guidance, and support.
Hugs to you my friend,
Caroline

Hi Coach Mary!
It’s Savvi! I was just sending you a quick email to say thank
you for everything you have don’t for me throughout the years. I have been
involved in the 1on1 program for as long as I can remember, and have been
coached under you for years! Through the 1on1 program and your coaching and
basketball skills I have grown so much as a player and a person. I can honestly
not express my gratitude enough for all you have done for me. Without the
numerous Sunday workouts and practices I would not be where I am now; a
(hopefully!) starter on my freshman basketball team and a mentally strong
basketball player. Not only did you teach me to be a good sportsman you taught
me how to be a better friend and daughter! To listen to others and of course
TEAMWORK! I have heard multiple times how good my "core" basketball skills are,
and I owe that all to you. Before I started in the program I could barely shoot
a layup nor did I have the confidence to! Now six years later I live for a break
away! Basically I just want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart for
everything you have ever done for me. Though I am not a pope, Pius and the 1on1
program will always be a part of my life! I hope to get to a workout soon and I
hope you are doing well!

Mary,
I finally found time to send you this e-mail. I want to thank you for making Alexis feel so welcome at her first workout. She hasn't stopped talking about it. She actually came home and showed my wife all the drills she did during the workout, that hasn't happened from any other camp she has gone to. She also keeps talking about the idea of playing next summer for one of your teams. If that's still possible she would love to do it. I personally want to thank you for making it a great day for me. It made me feel fantastic to watch my daughter work hard, learn and smile while she is doing it.
Thank you,
Mike
