String together five wins for tournament title
May 27, 2009 - NIAGARA FALLS -- The Pickering Power Strikers U12 girls kicked off their 2009 outdoor season with a win in the Under 12 North American Division of the West Niagara Tournament.
Not only did they face strong competition on the field, they had to deal with harsh inclement weather including cold temperatures, driving rain and very strong winds on the first day. They prevailed though against the weather and opposition to bring back the championship trophy from their division.
In their first round-robin game, Pickering faced Erin Mills United Eagles and came away with a 4-1 win. The next round-robin game of the day had them taking their second win of 2-1 against the Stoney Creek Angels.
These two wins put them through to the quarterfinals where they started the day by posting a 3-0 win against the Waterloo Warriors for their only shutout of the tournament. The semifinals saw them play against the Oakville Red Gaels. With a 3-1 score in this game, they headed to the championship game against the Darlington Fusion.
Pickering prevailed with a final score of 2-1 against the Fusion, returning home proudly with the championship trophy for the Pickering Soccer Club.

 | | | | Final2008 CESL U11 Div. 1 Standings |
The 2008 season starts soon with lots of anticipation. The Strikers have
been training and working very hard during the winter and are ready for
the outdoor season.
There will not be easy games for any of the teams, since for the first
time we play the creme of the DGSL crop as the the separation of teams takes effect with three divisions. The
season will be a good test for teams as further separation will take
place at the end of season.
How will things turn out - who knows only
time will tell. But its time to start to separate the serious soccer
players and teams. Which style will win. Will it be the short or long
game that makes the difference? Or will it be the kick and run approach
or kick out of bounds every chance you get mentality. Everyone has
their own opinion.
All I can tell you is that its going to be an enjoyable 2008 season.

Summer 2006
The Pickering Strikers Girls 97 team was formed by its Head Coach, Gene Gesualdo in the spring of 2006. Pat Foster previously coached the Strikers in the 2005 season, helping bring the spirit of competitive soccer to the girls.
Right from the beginning, the girls exhibited natural athletic ability and talent. They were always very eager to learn basic skills and techniques in soccer. The Striker’s quickly developed an instinct for tough competition, and a strong desire to perform at a high energy level. This quickly propelled the team to be one of the top teams in Durham for the 2006 outdoor season.
For fun the Strikers would enjoy many an opportunity to learn, relax and be a kid. Pool parties, sleepovers and visits to cottages were the norm. BBQ’s at the park and the highly anticipated players vs. parent game were the highlights.
For many it was a special opportunity to watch the Strikers at play. Many of Ontario’s top teams had nothing but praise for the hard work and skill set that the Strikers possessed. Games against teams such as the Brams United Angels, Glen Shields Sun Devils Red, Vaughn Strikers, Whitby Attack and Ajax Thunder always meant great footwork and fine team play for this age.
The Strikers entered a number of Tournaments in 2006, winning the highly competitive COVI and Lake Simcoe Tournament and placing second in the Aurora Classic. During the regular season, the Strikers remain one of the top teams, especially in the area of goals, footwork, competitive play and teamwork.
Members of the 2006 team are:
Heather "Storm" B. Alexa "Rocket" C. Megan "Star" D. Ashna "Trix" G. Nicole "Flash" L. Nicole "Lightning" M. Aliya "Blaster" N. Sara "Speedy" S. Kailey "Deeker" S. Stephanie "Thunder" T. Madison "Chopper" T. Nicole "Digger" W.
