The 1995 Valley Forge Minutemen Bantam Minor Team are Tier 1 members of the Atlantic Youth Hockey League. The Minutemen Organization has a rich history of success at local and national levels. Many alumni of Minutemen teams have gone on to play prep school, junior and college hockey.
Our coaches are committed to developing teamwork, sportsmanship, skills and discipline, encouraging players to strive for excellence, both on and off the ice!

2008-09 Minutemen Bantam Minor Coaches
Head Coach: John Turner - John, a Massachusetts native, is in his second season with the Minutemen. John brings over 30 years of hockey experience as both a player and coach to our team. As a player, he played four years Varsity at St John’s Prep in Mass. In 2001, John was inducted into St. John's Prep Hall of Fame. After prep school John took his skills to the next level, playing four years of NCAA Division I at Merrimack College (Hockey East). John has been coaching youth hockey for many years, mostly with the Reading Jr. Royals organization.
Coach Turner's accomplishments consist of:
- USA Hockey Level 4 Coaches Certification
- 2 X DVHL Playoffs Pee Wee
- 2 X District Playoffs Pee Wee & Bantam
- 1 District Championship Bantam AA
- 1 appearance at Tier II Nationals Bantam AA
Assistant Coach: Toni Porkka - Toni was born in Rauma, Finland, and drafted by the Philadelphia Flyers in 1990. Toni is an 18-year professional hockey veteran, who brings his knowledge of the game, and his passion for teaching young athletes the skills they need to develop to become better players. Toni retired from Professional Hockey in 2006, and is currently the Hockey Director for the Xtreme Hockey Institute in Reading, PA.
Coach Porkka's Professional Career consists of:
- Member of Team Finland (National Team)
- 3 years playing for the Hershey Bears of the AHL
- 6 years playing for the Frankford Lions and the Cologne Sharks of the German Elite League
- 9 years playing for Lukko Rauma of the Finnish Elite League
