6/6/11 Leicester 3, St. Bernard’s 0: Lauren Tuiskula struck out six while throwing a five-hitter and delivered a two-run single in the sixth inning for the fifth-seeded Wolverines (17-5).

Megan Drummond allowed only five hits, struck out eight and singled for the 13th-seeded Bernardians, who finished 10-10.

6/3/11 Shepherd Hill 6, Wachusett 2: Junior center fielder Lauren Gorodeckas went 3 for 3 with a double and an RBI for the eighth-ranked Rams (13-8) in Dudley.
Junior Molly Covill struck out nine and was 2 for 4 with an RBI, while freshman Shelby Stracher had a two-run single for Shepherd Hill, which plays at top-seeded Milford (19-1) at 3:15 p.m. Monday.
Sydney Despres went 2 for 3 with a triple, an RBI and a run for the No. 9 Mountaineers (11-10).

6/3/11 St. Bernard's senior Megan Drummond outdueled Groton-Dunstable ace Jess O'Sullivan Thursday, throwing a complete-game one-hitter en route to a 1-0 victory in the opening round of the Central Mass. Division 2 softball tournament in Groton. 

Drummond struck out 13 for the No. 13 Bernardians (10-9), who pulled off the stunning upset over the fourth-seeded Crusaders (16-5).

The visitors got all the offense they would need from the game's first batter. Amy Sullivan led off the first with a bunt single, stole second and then came home on a pair of passed balls for the game's only run. Michelle Stephens and Drummond each had one hit, as O'Sullivan finished with an 11-strikeout, three-hit performance in the circle.

St. Bernard's will travel to face No. 5 Leicester (16-5) in Saturday's quarterfinal clash.

5/28/11 Doherty 4, Marlboro 3: Phoebe Walsh-Costello (2 for 2), Courtney Fluet and Delaney Sylvester drove in runs as the Highlanders (6-12) had five straight hits in the bottom of the seventh to score three times for the win.

Quabbin 10, Gardner 4: Teresa Tremblay and Jackie Welch each went 2 for 3 and drove in two runs for the Panthers (12-8, 7-5 Mid-Wach B), who scored in every inning but the sixth.

Brittany Peterson went 3 for 3 for Quabbin. Frankie Leary was 3 for 4 with an RBI and Laura Gallagher had a two-run double for the Wildcats (4-15, 3-8).

5/27/11 Milford 10, Wachusett 1:Sophomore Shannon Smith struck out 17 as the top-ranked Scarlet Hawks (17-1, 11-0 Mid-Wach A) clinched the Mid-Wach A title at home.   Adrienne Chase had two singles for the Mountaineers (11-9, 6-6).

St. Bernard’s 16, Clinton 1: Junior catcher Rylee Stacy was 3 for 4 with three doubles and three RBIs for the host Bernardians (10-10), who qualified for the Central Mass. playoffs with a win over the Gaels (4-15).
Jill Schultze was 3 for 4 with two doubles and two RBIs, and Meg Drummond struck out 10 for St. Bernard’s.

Worcester Tech 3, Assabet 2: Senior Amanda Perry went 2 for 3 with a triple, double and two RBIs while Danielle Frisch had the winning RBI double in the sixth for the visiting Eagles (14-5).
Leah Damars had a triple and Jenna Casavant a double for the Aztecs (16-2).

FITCHBURG -- The Fitchburg High softball team's season concluded against Wachusett Regional at home Wednesday afternoon. The Red Raiders dropped a 5-1 decision to Wachusett.  Gabby Picarello pitched a great game.  Picarello  pitched a complete game six-hitter.  "Gabby did a nice job," Wachusett head coach Joe Cataldo said.  T he Mountaineers wasted no time getting on the board in the first inning. A lead-off walk by Picarello (2 for 3, RBI) and a single from Adrieanne Chase put two on. Then following an unassisted out by the third baseman, clean up hitter Sydney Despres doubled to right field to put Wachusett up 2-0. Two batters later and a runner on third base with two outs, Carolyn Duval notched a base-hit up the middle of the infield to make it a 3-0 advantage.

5/25/11 St. Bernard's Drummond reaches strikeout milestone.

FITCHBURG -- It was a big milestone for St. Bernard's senior pitcher Megan Drummond, who notched her 500th career strikeout and threw a complete-game shutout in an 8-0 victory over visiting Athol Tuesday.

HOLDEN— Adrienne Chase’s single drove in Gabby Picarello in the ninth to give the Wachusett softball team (10-8) a 6-5 walk-off win over Doherty (5-12), qualifying the Mountaineers for the Central Mass. playoffs. Picarello, who doubled in the ninth, also earned the win in relief of starter Kaitlin Eramo in the eighth. Phoebe Walsh-Costello went 2 for 5 for Doherty, which took a 5-4 lead after a five-run sixth. Wachusett, which tied it in the bottom of the inning, got two hits apiece from Lindsey Letourneau and Picarello.

Narragansett 12, Oakmont 0: Danielle LeBlanc hurled a three-hitter as the ninth-ranked Warriors (16-2, 7-1) clinched the Mid-Wach C title with a win over the Spartans (6-11, 2-5) in Baldwinville.
Megan LeBlanc went 3 for 4, including a home run and five RBIs, and Rebekah Raymond was 2 for 4 with two RBIs. Michelle Beaulieau had two hits.
 
St. Bernard’s 8, Athol 0: Senior Meg Drummond fanned 10, including her 500th career strikeout, as the host Bernardians (9-9) evened their record in their quest for a postseason berth.
Drummond went 3 for 3 with two RBIs while teammate Danni Martin was 2 for 2 with an RBI.
Megan, CONGRATULATIONS! That's a very impressive milestone! Awesome Job!

Doherty 6, South 0: Phoebe Walsh-Costello went 2 for 4 with a triple and two RBIs, Tiana Sturtze went 2 for 3 with a triple, and Emma Greene struck out seven in six innings as the visiting Highlanders (5-10, 4-1) kept pace with Burncoat for first place in the Inter-High.

St. Bernard’s 6, Douglas 1; Douglas 9, St. Bernard’s 5: In the first game, Meg Drummond struck out 12 and hit two doubles to pace the Bernardians (7-9) in Fitchburg. Hannah Furno had two hits for Douglas.

The Tigers (11-5) turned the tables in the nightcap with Brittany Furno going 3 for 3 and Emily Gauthier 2 for 2. Drummond went 3 for 4, and Michelle Stephens and Danielle Martin each had two hits for the Bernardians.

St. Bernard’s 4, Lunenburg 0: Megan Drummond struck out 15, allowing two hits over six innings, and added a two-run homer to lead the Bernardians (6-8) past the visiting Blue Knights (9-6) in a rain-shortened game in Fitchburg. Michelle Stephens was 2 for 3 with an RBI.

NCAA Division 2 update

Merrimack beat Dowling 2-1 on Friday ( RANKED # 7 IN COUNTRY) and beat Southern Conn. 1-0 today. They play in the championship game tomorrow down on Long Island. Looks like they will play Southern Conn. Again as they are up late in their game 4-1. If Merrimack can win one tomorrow it is off to Virginia next weekend. What a run…..

It is on to the super regional’s for Merrimack. They won the championship game 2-1 against Southern Connecticut the same team that beat them in the NE 10 Finals. Revenge is so sweet. Super regional’s begin next weekend. Only 16 division 2 teams remain in the entire U.S.

 5/13/11 St. Bernard’s 5, Clinton 0: Michelle Stephens went 2 for 3 and scored twice while Meg Drummond struck out seven and went 3 for 4 to lead the visiting Bernardians past the Gaels (2-9).

5/10/11 Groton-Dunstable 8, Gardner 0: Jess O’Sullivan struck out 14 while throwing a three-hitter and had an RBI single for the No. 8 Crusaders (9-2, 5-1 Mid-Wach B) in Gardner. Jackie Ordemann had two RBI doubles, and Alyssa Ash added a two-run single.

Laura Gallagher had all three hits for the Wildcats (2-9, 1-5).

Wachusett 5, Fitchburg 1: Adrienne Chase went 2 for 3 with a homer and two runs for the host Mountaineers (8-5, 4-2 Mid-Wach A). Heather Fatcheric was 2 for 3 with two runs.

5/7/11 Worcester Tech 8, Nashoba Tech 0: Sophomore right-hander Rachel Frisch threw a no-hitter for the Eagles (8-2, 6-0 Colonial Athletic) and struck out 13 Vikings (3-6) in Worcester.

The no-no was a first for Frisch, who lost her bid for a perfect game when a batter reached on an error with one out in the seventh.

Danielle Frisch, Rachel’s sister, was 2 for 3 with a homer and three RBIs. Catcher Amanda Perry went 3 for 3 with two RBIs.

Wachusett 4, Algonquin 3: Ashley Brower scored from second base on Carolyn Duval’s sacrifice bunt in the seventh to win it for the host Mountaineers (7-5, 3-2 Mid-Wach A).

Sydney Despres was 2 for 4 with two RBIs, and Melissa DiMarzo (1 for 2) scored twice.

5/6/11 Milford 5, Wachusett 4: Shannon Smith struck out 17 and gave up just two hits to lead the top-ranked Scarlet Hawks (10-0, 5-0 Mid-Wach A), who qualified for the Central Mass. playoffs. Lyndsey Letourneau and Sydney Despres singled for the Mountaineers (6-5, 2-2).

5/4/11 Burncoat 2, South 1: Bridget McGrail singled home Brianne Biscaglia in the fifth to lift the visiting Patriots (4-6, 3-0 Inter-High). Katie Roy struck out seven. 
St. Bernard's lost a close one, 3-2, against host Holy Name.
Michelle Stephens and Julia Cote each went 2 for 3 for the Bernardians (3-4, 0-4 Colonial Athletic League), while Megan Drummond allowed only four hits and struck out nine.

5/3/11 Shrewsbury 10, Wachusett 3:  Sydney Despres went 2 for 3 with an RBI double for the visiting Mountaineers (6-4, 2-1), who took a 3-0 lead in the top of the first.

Burncoat 17, North 0: Katie Roy struck out 10 and pitched a five-inning perfect game to power the visiting Patriots (3-6, 2-0 Inter-High) past the Polar Bears (0-6, 0-3).

Notre Dame 10, Doherty 4: Phoebe Walsh-Costello had three hits for the host Highlanders (3-6).

Quabbin 6, Gardner 1: Laura Gallagher homered for the Wildcats (2-7, 1-2).
