*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
The North Alabama Rockets Blue U-16 team will begin the 2005 season with 10 of 11 team members returning from the U-14 - 2004 season. The team will again be under the coaching direction of Byron McGriff, Mike Torres, and Jesse May. Growth and development will be the main focus for the upcoming season, as 5 players are first year U-16 and 6 players are eligible for U-14, but have chosen to move up and keep the team together.
Amber Torres, Morgan May, and Nesha McGriff will see mound time with Whitney Bryant and Jenni Williams catching. First base will be covered by Jenni Williams, Nesha McGriff, and Morgan May. Second base will likely see Lauren Woltjen, Sam Deep, Whitney Bryant, and Morgan May. Short stop will be covered by Sam Deep, Rachel Miller, Whitney Bryant, Sam Carpenter, and Maggie Price. Covering third base will be Amber Torres, Maggie Price, and Sam Carpenter. Outfielders will be a combination of Rachel Miller, Amber Torres, Whitney Bryant, Maggie Price, Nesha McGriff, Morgan May, Jenni Williams, Sam Deep, and Lauren Woltjen. In reviewing this list one point becomes clear, the North Alabama Rockets Blue U-16 team is a group of girls with multiple talents and potential at any position on the field. The coaches are likely to use any combination - you never know!
We look forward to seeing you this summer!

July 1-3
Alabama NSA "B" State
The North Alabama Rockets Blue U-16 team had a GREAT weekend at the NSA B State in Gadsden July 1-3! The team started the weekend with a defeat of the Predators on Friday night due to good pitching, good defense, and patience at the plate. The team suffered a loss to the Skyhawks on Saturday morning in an international tie breaker. This loss put the Rockets in the losers bracket and set them on a long road to the championship game. The team defeated the Glory Girls, N.A. Elite, and the Sharks Purple on Saturday afternoon. Sunday morning brought another round with the Predators and Skyhawks in which the Rockets emerged victorious! After two more games on Sunday with the Sandrock Wave and Dixie Starlets the Rockets found themselves in the championship game against the North Alabama Explosion. The Rockets lead this game until the bottom of the fifth inning when the Explosion scored the winning run. Contratulations to the North Alabama Rockets Blue for finishing second place in the NSA B State! Warriors this weekend were: Sam Deep, Maggie Price, Amber Torres, Nesha McGriff, Morgan May, Rachel Miller, Jenni Williams, Sam Carpenter, Whitney Bryant, and Jenna McCulley. These girls gave 110% this weekend and left everything they had on the field! Coach B could not ask for any more, and he is very proud of them!
