Roadrunner win "King of the Hill" Invitational

The Roadrunners finished pool play at 1-1-1 with a win against the MGBA Braves, a loss to the EC Braves and a tie against the EC Colt 45's.

We moved on to the bracket and took on MGBA again.  This time the bats came alive and the Roadrunners go on for the 12-4 win.  We then moved on to the 45's again this one was also decided by the bats waking up as we went on for the 19-5 win.  That sent the 45's on to play the EC Braves to decide who came back to play us in the Championship.  The 45's prevailed setting up the rematch with us in the finals.  The 45's ended up forfeiting the finals to us since they had quite a few sore arms and didn't want to take a chance on hurting anyone else.

So the Roadrunner win another one!  Way to go boys!!!

Triple Crown Champs

Roadrunners win Triple Crown State Title

The Roadrunners headed just up the road to Cumming for the Triple Crown State Tournament.  The Roadrunners opened up the event going 2-0 in pool play and earning the #1 seed.

Bracket play opened up on Saturday with the Roadrunners winning the opening game 11-2 against the SFCB Colts.  Next up was a team we had lost to a couple of weeks ago at the Super NIT in the EC Titans.  It was a tougher game then the final score with the Roadrunners winning 8-1.  Up next was the always tough Stixx Baseball on Sunday morning.  The game was touch and go until the Roadrunners ended it on a dramatic walk off gap shot in the 7th earning the 8-7 win.  The next game was the finals of the winners bracket against the Elite Gamers who had beaten the Alpharetta Cyclones on their side of the bracket.  The Gamers came out hot and pounded the ball on the way to a 16-4 win.  With the first loss of the tournament we had a bit of a gut check coming as we now had to face the winner of the Stixx vs EC Colt .45's to get back to the finals.

The Stixx were able to prevail and earn their way to the finals of the losers bracket.  This was another hard fought game with the Roadrunners winning the game 5-2.  We now had another shot at the Gamers in the finals.  The Roadrunners came out swinging and pitching very well!  We earned a hard fought victory and tournament/State Championship by winning 11-6.

This makes 3 out of the last 4 years that the Roadrunners won the Triple Crown State title!  Way to go Roadrunners!!!

Super NIT Runner-up
Tuesday, June 7
Roadrunners punch ticket to the Elite 32 at Auburn Super NIT

The Roadrunners traveled down to Auburn, AL for the Alabama Super NIT on May 20 - 22.   We got off to a bit of rough start by going 1-1-1 in pool play, but it was good enough to get us in the bracket for Sunday.

Sunday we opened up with a team that we had played and tied in pool play, the Florida Mustangs.  We started the day off swinging the bat well and winning 10-4.  Our next game was against the very tough EC Colt .45's.  It was a game that ended in extra innings with a 5-4 win.  With the win we had to face another very tough team, the EC Braves.  This was another tough game that we were able to pull out and win 9-7.  That win put us in the championship against the EC Astros.  The Astros certainly were ready for us and won the game and the Championship 12-0.

By reaching the Championship we earned a birth to the Elite 32 in Orlando, Fl July 30 - August 7.  WAY TO GO ROADRUNNERS!!!!

Roadrunners win another one!!!

The Roadrunners finished the Roadrunner Invitational III with another Championship!   We finished with an overall record of 4 wins and one loss for the weekend.  The pitching for the Roadrunners was tremendous all weekend only allowing 8 runs in the 5 games.  Our offense did a pretty good job as well scoring 21 runs in the 5 games as well.  Congratulations to the Knoxville Stars who finished as the runner-up also going 4-1 but allowing 31 runs in the process.

Sunday, April 11
Roadrunners win 2nd tournament in a row!!!
The Roadrunners came back off of Spring Break by playing in the Triple Crown Spring Break Extravaganza at Wills Park.  We opened up pool play with the East Cobb Longhorns and the Sandy Springs Storm, winning both games 7-1 and 17-1.  With the 2 wins in pool play we earned the #2 overall seed.   Bracket play started with another game with the Sandy Springs Storm with the Roadrunners winning 12-2.  That win put us in the semi-finals against the East Cobb Colt 45's.  The Roadrunners came out swinging the bats early and hammered out a 10 - 0 win!  With the win we now moved on to play the Georgia Academy Elite Red who had beaten Sharon Springs Baseball to get to the finals.  This was a nail bitter that came down to a 2-2 tie in the bottom of the 6th.  With 2 outs and no one on base Taylor Trammell crushed a solo walk off homerun well over the 250' fence to earn the win and Championship for the Roadrunners.   The Roadrunners really started swinging the bats well this weekend slugging out 49 runs!!!  While the pitching was very impressive as well by only giving up 6 runs in 5 ball games!!!  Way to go Roadrunners!!!!

ROADRUNNERS WIN NABF WORLD CLASSIC
NABF
The Roadrunners traveled over to Southaven, Mississippi for the end of the year tournament in the NABF World Classic. Upon arriving we headed to the skills competitions and the opening ceremonies. The skills competition went well as Adam Moore took second place in the appropriately named Roadrunner race.

The next day pool play opened for us with a game against the always tough Memphis Travelers. The Roadrunners jumped out early, aided by an Austin O'Rourke home run, and cruised on to a 13-3 victory. The next day we were to face the Desoto Stingrays and Team Collierville with the Roadrunners winning both games 13-1 and 13-5. Our last game of pool play we had to play the Goose's Gamers. The Gamers came out ready to play, and handed us our first loss of the tournament 7-12.

The Roadrunners started the single elimination bracket as the #3 overall seed. That pitted us against Team Collierville again. However, this game was to be much different than our first meeting with the Roadrunners having to fight from behind to earn the 16-12 win. Our next opponent was to be the Desoto Cardinals. The Cardinals are the USSSA Mississippi State Champs, ranked #1 in Mississippi and #2 in the country by the USSSA ranking system. Adam Moore pitched the game of the year by throwing a complete game in the 4-1 win. 12 of the 16 out for the Cardinals were strike outs! With that win the Roadrunners had earned a spot in the Championship against the #1 overall seed Germantown Giants. The Roadrunners got off to a great start as Zach Cable gave us an early lead with a first inning home run that cleared the right center fence and landed in the back of a truck in the parking lot. The big bat however came from Chandler Eaton as he hit a 3 run home run that cleared the score board and also hit a 2 run double in the game. The Roadrunners never looked back as they would go on to win the Championship 17-5.

WAY TO GO ROADRUNNERS!!!!!

Also four Roadrunners were named to the All Tournament Team:

Zack Cable
Chandler Eaton
Adam Moore
Austin O'Rourke

Congratulations to you and to the rest of the Roadrunners who can now all call themselves World Series Champions!!!

Roadrunners win second championship of the season!
The Roadrunners hosted the Roadrunner Round Robin this past weekend. We opened up Friday night with a game against the Cherokee Lookouts. The game was neck and neck until the Roadrunners finally pulled away with an 11-5 victory. Our next opponent was our friends from Wills Park. The match up of the Redhawks and the Roadrunners had been anticipated for quite a while. The Roadrunners would go on to win the first meeting of the season 7-0. Our next opponent was to be the South Forsyth War Eagles. This was a very hard fought game which once again found the Roadrunners victorious at the end 10-6. The next game was to be the first of two games of the teams playing for the Championship, the East Cobb Stallions and the Roadrunners. The first game looked well in hand for the Roadrunners as the Stallions came charging back in the bottom of the 6th to earn the 10-9 victory. This was the conclusion of pool play for the tournament. Based on the records, the Stallions at 4-0 and the Roadrunners at 3-1, would now play for the Championship. The Championship was also a hard fought game by both teams. The game went back and forth before the Roadrunners would pull ahead for good to claim their second Championship of the season by winning 12-6.

Roadrunners win another one!
The Roadrunners hosted the Roadrunner Round Robin II on April 27-29. The teams who participated were the East Cobb Stallions, North Georgia Blazers, Milton Mavericks, Team Wilson and the Roadrunners.

Pool play concluded on Sunday with the standings as:

East Cobb Stallions 4-0
Georgia Roadrunners 3-1
Team Wilson 2-2
Milton Mavericks 1-3
North Georgia Blazers 0-4 (this is very deceiving as the Blazers played very tough throughout the tournament)

That meant that the Roadrunners would again face the EC Stallions for the Championship. After the dust settled the Roadrunners had won their third Championship on the season by beating the Stallions 9-1.

Way to go Roadrunners!
