1) What is the most important Pitching Stat to a coach?

Strike outs per game (13% selected this answer)

Walks per game (38% selected this answer)

Number of pitches per inning (25% selected this answer)

Hit’s allowed per game (25% selected this answer)

Answer: Number of pitches per inning. Why? - The fewer the pitches you throw the more likely the pitchers ability to perform at peak levels when it really counts, the end of the game, innings 4-7….. We still play for 3 outs per inning, strike outs take at least 3 pitches per out , usually more, so a high strike out and/or high walk count could mean increased pitch counts and possible pitcher fatigue. Same with base hits, the more you give up the more you continue to pitch…..You can get 3 outs on 3 pitches (if there quality pitches) and remain mentally and physically sharp throughout the game -- focus on low pitch counts. Of course a pitchers best friend is……… her defense!
