10u Lake Country Crushers: Welcome

Monday, November 16

One small change from last night - The December practices are really optional conditionings.  We know that all of you will have alot happening the month of December and we do not want to add another obligation.  If you can make the conditioning, we would love to have you.  If not - no worries!   All we ask is that you please call to let us know if you can make it so that we will know how many to expect.  We will start tryouts and regular practices in January.

11/15/09 Great time at cookout!!!  Kelsey, Macie and Karly B - I have something for you from the cookout.  I will get Kelsey's and Karly B.'s to Terry, Jannon give me a call.

Mark your calendars.  We will start practice again Sunday, December 6th.  Location and time will depend on the weather.

Be sure to check back atleast once a week for updates about practice schedule, pictures and Spring Tryouts!!  We also have 2 Crusher organization fundraisers coming up that will benefit all 4 teams.  We will have additional information for you at the practice.

Thanks and have a safe and Happy Thanksgiving!!!!

__________________________________________________________________

11/13/09 New location for the cookout!!!  It will be at the training grounds in Chase City.  Take 49 N towards Victoria, go past the intersection of 49 and 47, take next left - John Bill Road.  Follow to the end and the training grounds are on the right.  If you have any questions call Jason at 434-210-1228.

Sorry this has taken so long.  This is what I have for the cookout on Sunday:

Walt - ribs and hamburgers

Eddie - chicken wings

Jason - ribs and sausages

If you want to bring something of your own for the grill, please do.  We will really only need side dishes(pasta salad, coleslaw) desserts, chips and please bring your own drinks.

Look forward to seeing everyone there.

11/10/09**************************************************************************

I wanted all of you girls to know that I have thoroughly enjoyed working with each and everyone of you.  I am proud of all of the efforts you and your parents have put into this team.  I could not have asked for a beter group of girls and parents.  I'm sorry we didn't do better than what we did this fall; but, we are a young team and we have improved so much since when we first began practicing.  We are building something positive for our children and it will not happen overnight.  A few of us went through this last fall with the VA Vixens.  We had a heck of a team and we still took our share of beatings.  But in the spring we did better because we were playing teams our age.  We still need a lot of work on our hitting and defense.  We can't win games if we don't hit!  Our catchers and pitchers have improved tremendously over the season; however, they still need to practice hard to get better each game.  Overall, we are playing so much better than when we first started out.  I'm so proud of this team!  I hope everyone hangs in there and comes back in the spring.  This is truly the best group of girls and parents I have ever worked with.

Thanks to Walt and Brian for all of your help!  And a special thank you to Hardy for providing the team cooler every week.

Lastly, a special thank you to Melinda for all of your hard work and dedication to the team- from scorebook, maintaining our website, scheduling of our practices and tournaments, developing our team budget, keeping us all straight!  The list of your volunteered services is too numerous to mention.  I really appreciate all you do for this team!

 Coach Eddie

9/14/09 Excellent weekend girls!! All of us coaches were very impressed with each and everyone of you on Saturday and Sunday! All of the nerves should be gone now- we got our first games behind us. I think we showed everyone that we can play with any 10U team. We hit good, ran the bases great, and fielded really good. We really need to work on pop fly balls the next couple of weeks. Pitchers- you all did great! We need to keep practicing, practicing, practicing to fine tune those pitching skills. I'm so proud of all the pitchers! Thanks again to Brooke Mason for helping get us some more at bats on Sunday. We batted 5 times in 1 game on Sunday. On Saturday we batted only 5 times in 3 games.

Again, I'm proud of each and everyone of you. I'm so glad you and your families are part of this great team.

See you at practice on Wednesday.
~Coach Eddie

***A special thanks to Kevin for the awesome Sunday service! Also, thanks to the parents for the wonderful lunch on Saturday. We have a great group of parents who seem to get along well with each other. The parents' enthusiasm at the games was great to see. That means alot.

Sorry practice was cut short tonight. One thing we can not control is the weather. Everyone should have received an envelop before they left tonight. If you did not, Eddie has them and will give it to you at Sunday's practice. This contains team stickers for each of the girls along with 100 raffle tickets. We will draw for the raffle on 9/26 at the Outdoor Show fundraiser in Farmville. More tickets are available. We ask that you please turn in the sold tickets and money when requesting additional tickets. We are working on a prize for the top seller.

I have a fall budget and schedule for everyone. I will give this out on Sunday. This will explain why fundraising is such a big part of what we do.

We are looking at having parents shirts, hats/visors and sweatshirts made. The shirts and sweatshirts will have the team logo on the front and your child's number of the back. Please let me know at practice how many of you are interested. The price will depend on how many we order.

The next practice is Sunday at 3pm at Parker Park in South Hill. If you can not make it, please let one of the coaches know. Everyone should have the numbers and the email addresses are available under the Roster section of this site.

Thanks and we will see you Sunday!

Madison Dooley, from Blackstone, and Hannah Mull, from Chase City, will be at practice on Saturday. We will also have Macey Coley, from South Hill, join us after her vacation next week. We need 1 more girl. I plan to put ads in the local newspapers this week. It was nice meeting Lexie and I look forward to coaching her this fall. It was also a great surprise to see Carlee Wagstaff! Welcome Kat, Sarah, Celena, Caroline, Lexie, Mary Grace, Carlee, and Taylor "Bug" Walker. A special "thanks" to Melinda & Walt for ALL of your help.

On behalf of Walt, Melinda, & myself, we look forward to a great fall season!

7/26/09 Great job Saturday girls!!! Our next practice will be Saturday, August 1st at 9am at the Clarksville Dixie Youth fields. Please be sure to bring all of equipment for practices. We need a few more girls to fill the team. If you know of anyone, please let us know. I will have some forms for the parents to fill out Saturday. Please bring a copy of your child's birth certificate to practice.

Fall fees are $300 and are due by the end of August. This will pay for 1 uniform, a bat bag, a helmet, insurance and tournament fees. Checks should be made payable to the 10u Lake Country Crushers.

We are looking at playing 2 tournaments in September and 2 in October. We are trying to keep travel expenses low so all tournaments will be played in the Richmond area.

Since the weather will start getting cold, we would like to get the girls sweatsuits with the team logo and players numbers on them. We may have to do a raffle or some other type of fundraising to cover the costs of them. We will also order parents shirts which will have the team logo and players number on them. We will let you know the costs once we get the quotes.

We are a non-profit organization and have a tax number which can be provided to anyone who wishes to make donations. If you know of an individual or a business who would like to make a donation, please let us know.
