- You are expected to be ready 15 minutes before game and 10 minutes before practice times to allow yourself time to do stretching exercises.
Players should be completely dressed except for helmets and gloves 10 minutes before games to listen to the coaches’ pre- game speech.
All electronic devises must be turned off and put away at this time (i.e. IPods’ & Cell Phones)
- After all games players are expected to return to the dressing room as soon as possible, remove their helmet and gloves only, and listen while the coaching staff reviews our efforts.
- *NO VELCRO PEELING OR TAPE PULLING WILL BE TOLERATED WHILE THE COACHING STAFF IS TALKING* After the review is completed the player can then change out of their equipment.
Practices Page 12
Practices AND Team Group Functions are not optional. The coaching staff recognizes and encourages the fact that hockey is not your life, only part of your life. However, practicing to play the game and building physical endurance is important. The most important part of practice time is active time versus idle time. The coaches will do their best to ensure that practice time is active time with a minimum amount of idle time. The players are expected to listen and learn through instructions from their coaches so that we can achieve our goals. Players are to arrive at least 30 minutes before practice time. The type of practices that we have outlined are high performance, high tempo practices designed to simulate game situations. We will run relevant practices, prepared in advance. The practice drills scheduled for a practice may change from time to time depending on game related results and whether immediate attention has to be paid to some particular concern. Players who are not ready to hit the ice at the start of our practice ice time will be disciplined accordingly (this may include EXTRA SKATING for EVERYONE!). One person being late affects the whole team. Team sweaters and socks cannot be used during practice. The players are expected to use the practice jerseys and socks supplied. Full equipment is mandatory during all practices (including neck & mouth guards). Any player not wearing practice jerseys and socks or neglects to wear full equipment during a practice will be disciplined accordingly by the coaching staff. This may include “extra” workouts such as push-ups or skating drills etc. This will be at the discretion of the coaching staff. In addition, ALL players will have to do “EXTRA SKATING” during the practice as a consequence. You are a team and you must be able to count on your team mates! If one team member messes up, everyone will pay the price.
Tournaments Page 13
Tournaments are still in the planning stages right now. Once everything has been finalized I will let you all know. Tournaments we are looking into: Rochester NY, London Ont. We want to lean towards tournaments where only exceptional play can lead to victory rather than tournaments that provide little to no competition. That being said, exceptional play and no victories can be disheartening also. It will be our duty to find tournaments that provide competition and an opportunity to win.
Sponsorship All sponsors are welcome!
The sponsor’s information will be posted on the team web-site. If you know of a company that may be interested in sponsoring our team or your son
- please inform the Coaching Staff or the Manager. General letter attached at the end of this package. The Team Manager can customize a sponsorship letter if one is required.

Parent Rep The BYHA requires a parent rep be ELECTED from each team to act as a liaison between other parents and the team officials. The parent rep will be expected to attend 2-3 meetings during the season at the BYHA, and distribute communications to other parents. This individual should be SELECTED for their ability to resolve concerns in a harmonious manner and with as little bias as possible. The Parent Rep will also be a co-signor on the team bank account. We need to elect a Parent rep today.
